Ian Gale:
Translating that which Ian really enjoys into the professional realm was really only a matter of time. Ian has spent many years as a Music Teacher and Musical Director and has been involved in theatre all his life.
Ian began conducting Musical Theatre whilst still studying in Australia. He has been involved in Theatre in some capacity over many years, working with companies both in Australia, and Hong Kong. Some of the more memorable shows he has conducted include – The Secret Garden, Chicago, The Wizard of Oz, Into The Woods, West Side Story, and Les Miserables.
Composing is Ian’s other great passion, which he started at high school, writing rock songs for his band! More serious work started whilst at Uni where he composed the incidental music for the play The Government Inspector. Later he turned his hand to arranging, and writing orchestral and choral works for schools and community groups again in Australia and Hong Kong. His first Musical; Prodigal premiered in 1999, however, Ian considers his second Musical: Shoah the first major theatrical work he has written, spending 2 years working on the score. It premiered in Adelaide in 2005.
